We know it's been 6 months since we've added to this section, but we wanted to let you all know that we are moving forward with our sophomore recording project and plan to have it ready in the fall. The official CD release party will be held at the classic Westside Theater in Newman, CA. If you haven't been to this venue, you owe it to yourself to come see us there. They also have plenty of other fine musical acts as well as dramatic performances.
We are looking forward to a fantastic 2012. We are already in the process of recording our sophomore album, and the tracks are really starting to cook! Last year brought us a slew of new material, much of which you've heard if you've seen us play out recently. We are recording these tunes and have been going the extra mile to make sure they are smokin' hot. Among the tunes being recorded are Gary's gospel tune titled "Fertile Ground". This tune will feature the delicately balanced melodies and rhythms that we love to put together and some really sweet harmonies. "The Wheel" written by Jason is a hard driving tune with great banjo punch and an arrangement that keeps you on your toes. We are all very proud to give you Dixon's debut recording of his own instrumental entitled "Morning Mist". This is a sweet tune with tons of bounce. "Cathedral" is the title of Eli's new tune about John Muir. This tune has been a crowd pleaser and we are proud to include songs such as this on our new project that tell the story of our beautiful Golden State and the folks that are and have been a part of its history. We're hoping to have this ready for everyone at the end of spring this year!
2012 is also shaping up to be a busy year for us playing out as well. We already have shows at The Westside Theater in Newman, The Parkfield Bluegrass Festival, Bluegrassin' in the Foothills, and even an opportunity to open for The Special Consensus bluegrass band at one or our favorite local venues: The Barkin' Dog Grill.
So, here's to all of you acoustic music lovers out there in 2012. We hope to see you some time this year, whether that be at one of our shows, in a pickin' circle at a bluegrass festival, or eating some delicious BBQ together. Cheers to the new year!
